Downtown Parks Initiative
Austin Parks Foundation continues to work to revitalize Austin's three historic downtown parks: Republic Square, Brush Square and Wooldridge Square as well as Palm Park, a east side neighborhood park , logn along cut off from its neighborhood by I-35.
Along with ongoing programing and advocacy, current Austin Parks Foundation endeavors include:
- An initiative to preserve the Auction Oaks at Republic Square
- Brush Square irrigation, benches and trash cans. New sidewalks & trees along 4th St (thanks to Capital Metro).
- Palm Park - removal and restoration of tennis court, installation of a cedar post fence to keep out vehicles.
Thanks to partnerships with the City of Austin Parks & Recreation Department and the Downtown Austin Alliance, the Austin Parks Foundation is able to make continuing efforts to improve and restore these important urban greenspaces.
