SUMMARY:Community Volunteer Event: Wooldridge School Park Tree Mulching
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\n\n\nHowdy! Put on your shoes and grab your water bottle as you head out the door to join us for our Community Volunteer Event at Wooldridge School Park. Join friends, family and community members as we work together to provide our local green spaces with mulch for trees.\nProject Goals: Our main task for the day focuses on creating an environment that will help sustain the trees of our local green space. We will mulch the base of trees found at Wooldridge School Park. Through mulching we can attempt to mitigate the dangers that trees face in extreme Texas Summer heat. Mulching can provide temperature regulation, moisture retention, weed suppression benefits and improve the soil around the roots. This in turn allows for trees to grow healthier and stronger. We look forward to seeing you out at the park on March 20th to help us support the trees at this beloved park.\nWhat to Bring:\n\nPlease bring plenty of drinking water and fluids to stay hydrated throughout the day. Electrolyte beverages and snacks encouraged!\nPlease wear comfortable, weather-appropriate gear for outdoor activities and uneven terrain. All volunteers are required to wear closed-toed shoes.\nWe recommend wearing long pants with ankle coverage for protection against irritants, bugs, and other environmental hazards. Sun protection including a broad-brimmed hat, sunscreen, and light-colored, lightweight clothing are recommended. Bug spray is recommended to prevent bug bites.\n\nWhere to Meet: Please meet at the school park next to the parking lot by the soccer pitch here to get started with introductions.\nParking: Parking will be available at the parking lot next to the soccer pitch and around the school.\n\n\n\n \n\nIn the event of dangerous inclement weather such as lightning, hail, or strong winds/ rain, APF staff will direct volunteers to vacate the site immediately. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nChildren under 17 must be accompanied by a parent or supervising guardian to volunteer.\n\n\n\n\n\n
