SUMMARY:Restoration Reset: Park Stewardship Series at Walnut Creek Metro Park
DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\nJoin Austin Parks Foundation and Siglo Group as we lead a four week education work session for neighbors and park lovers at Walnut Creek Metro Park! We will continue restoration efforts laid out in the Walnut Creek Metropolitan Park Unified Stewardship Plan, work to support native plants and wildlife, manage invasive species, and learn more about park’s ecosystem. This is an opportunity to learn restoration skills while leaving a lasting impact on Walnut Creek. You’ll leave this four-week course with the knowledge and ability to continue this work with APF.\nVolunteer Activities\n\nInvasive Species Removal\nTree Care\nNative Plant Seeding\nSeed Collection\nTrail Maintenance\n\nWhat to Bring\n\nPlenty of drinking water and fluids to stay hydrated throughout the day. Electrolyte beverages and snacks encouraged!\nPlease wear comfortable, weather-appropriate gear for wooded natural areas and uneven terrain.\n\nWear sturdy, closed-toed shoes.\nRecommend wearing long clothing and pants with ankle coverage for protection.\nRecommend sun and bug protection – don’t forget your hat, bug spray and sunscreen!\n\n\n\nWhere to Meet : We’ll meet near the Walnut Creek Park Playground here at 9AM each day to get started with introductions and our task for the day!\nParking : There is on-site parking available throughout the park.\nAccessibility: Please note that our activity for the day will involve walking on uneven terrain, slopes and potentially wet/muddy surfaces.\nWe hope you’ll join us for this fun day of learning, working and building community!\n\nIn the event of dangerous inclement weather such as lightning, hail, or strong winds/ rain, APF staff will direct volunteers to vacate the site immediately. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nChildren under 17 must be accompanied by a parent or supervising guardian to volunteer.\n\n\n\n\n\n
