Open Workday: Blair Woods Nature Preserve!
Calling all bird and park lovers! Austin Parks Foundation is excited to partner with Travis Audubon and join their efforts in caring for Blair Woods Nature Preserve! We will be supporting the health and beauty of this amazing space through trail maintenance, invasive species removal and fence removal projects!
What to bring: Please bring plenty of drinking water, wear close-toed shoes and comfortable, preferably long, outdoor clothing for protection that you don’t mind working up a sweat in. Sunscreen and a hat are recommended! APF will bring all other supplies and materials such as tools and gloves. There is a port-a-potty on the property.
Where to meet: Blair Woods Nature Preserve has very limited parking so we ask that all volunteers park at the back parking lot of Heritage Pointe Senior Apartments, 1950 Webberville Rd.
Once pulling into the Apartments, drive around to the back, and you will see a banner for Blair Woods Nature Preserve, and parking along the back fence with a gate that provides access to the preserve. Travis Audubon and APF will meet you in the parking lot to get started. We will begin with introductions, learn about the tasks at hand, and then get started!
Thank you so much for giving back to our parks and green spaces!
In the event of dangerous inclement weather such as lightning, hail, or strong winds/ rain, APF staff will direct volunteers to vacate the site immediately.
