Volunteer Open Workday: Georgian Acres Neighborhood Park
Howdy! Put on your shoes and grab your water bottle as you head out the door to join us for our open volunteer day at Georgian Acres Neighborhood Park. Join friends, family and community members as we work together to create a mulched walking path.
Project Goals: Our main task for the day focuses on creating an accessible, safe and simple foot path that can be used to access Georgian Acres Neighborhood Park. We will be doing some light weeding, brush collecting, digging and placement of mulch to design a simple but effective foot path for everyday use. We look forward to seeing you on July 19th to help us complete this project that not only gives back to your local green space but ensures a safe and accessible method for students to utilize when going to the park.
What to Bring:
- Please bring plenty of drinking water and fluids to stay hydrated throughout the day. Electrolyte beverages and snacks encouraged!
- Please wear comfortable, weather-appropriate gear for outdoor activities and uneven terrain. All volunteers are required to wear closed-toed shoes.
- We recommend wearing long pants with ankle coverage for protection against irritants, bugs, and other environmental hazards. Sun protection including a broad-brimmed hat, sunscreen, and light-colored, lightweight clothing are recommended. Bug Spray is recommended to prevent bug bites.
Where to Meet: Please meet at the park entrance at 9am to get started!
Parking: Please park around the neighborhood street parking.
In the event of dangerous inclement weather such as lightning, hail, or strong winds/ rain, APF staff will direct volunteers to vacate the site immediately.
