This week’s park preview is full of history! Let’s dive into Rosewood Neighborhood Park and all it has to offer – pool included!

History

Spanning 13.9 acres, Rosewood Park came to be in 1929. Offering more than just amenities, Rosewood Park became Austin’s first public space for African Americans. Today, the Juneteenth parade is held at Rosewood Park each year. Around the corner from the park, the George Washington Carver Museum works to create a space where the global contributions of all Black people are celebrated.

Take a day (or two) to explore Rosewood Neighborhood Park. Jump into the pool, work up a sweat on the sports fields or walking trails, and enjoy all the history encompassing this special park.

Rosewood Neighborhood Park is also home to the Delores Duffie Recreation Center. Seriously, this park has it all!
