Have you heard the news? Austin Parks and Recreation is extending pool operations for SIX seasonal pools! (More time to play Mermaids, y’all). Additionally, entry fees will be waived from all City pools (excluding Barton Springs) from August 9 through October 1st to provide some much-needed relief from the longest stretch of 100-degree days in Austin history. Dive into some of our favorite pools and stay cool out there!

Garrison Pool

Before you dive into this gem, take a walk around the trails, or slide at the playground! There’s so much to explore.

The pool depth ranges from 3’ – 12’, with two 50-meter lap lanes and picnic tables around the perimeter.

Govalle Pool

Govalle Neighborhood Park underwent renovations late last year. You can play a game of pick-up, bike the trails or swing at the playground steps from the pool!

To cool off, enjoy the big pool featuring six 25-yard lanes or the smaller, shaded pool offering 0’ – 3’ depths. Pack a lunch and enjoy a day at this beautiful park!

Mabel Davis Pool

Enjoy all the sports at Mabel Davis District Park. Grab your skateboard and drop in at the skate bowl, streetscape elements or relax in the grass seating area! Not big on skateboarding? Head to the basketball court or softball field.

After working up a sweat, jump into the Olympic-sized pool to cool down. Mabel Davis Pool offers six 50-meter lap lanes and shade structures!

Northwest Pool

If you’re looking to get out and enjoy nature, this is the pool for you! Beverly Sheffield Northwest District Park sits along Shoal Creek offering walking trails, fishing, playgrounds and lots of sport facilities.

On top of all that, you can dive into the Northwest Pool with a deep end reaching up to 14’. Sitting just to the side of the large pool is a smaller wading pool and picnic tables.

Shipe Pool

Shipe Neighborhood Park offers a large green space to run around or relax. Not far from this space is a playground, tennis courts and log cabin. On Tuesday nights, you can hear Blowcomotion (a learning brass band) rehearsing in the park.

The pool at Shipe Neighborhood Park has a depth of 4’ – 7’, shade structures and an adjacent wading pool.

Head over to the pool which offers two 25-meter lap lanes and reaches up to 12’ deep in certain spots!
