Community Volunteer Event: Earth Day at Kendra Page
Join Austin Parks Foundation on Earth Day to care for Kendra Page Park! We invite you to fun-filled day of community, education, and satisfaction giving back to your local green space.
Project Goals: Help us restore and maintain the ecological health and resilience of the park. Volunteers will learn and practice invasive plant removal and native seeding techniques.
What to bring: Closed toe shoes, a FULL water bottle and comfortable outdoor clothing (preferably long pants and sleeves) a must. Snacks, sunscreen, bug spray recommended. We will provide all tools and gloves – if you have your own gardening or work gloves you are welcome to bring them!
Where we will begin: We’ll meet at the Playground set at the front of the park by 9AM to get started with introductions and our activity for the day.
Where to park: There is open parking available throughout the front of the park across from Langford Elementary.
Accessibility: Please note that our activity for the day will involve walking on uneven terrain, and potentially wet/muddy surfaces.
SAFETY: We encourage you to “See and Be Seen!” Be mindful of your fellow volunteers and maintain awareness of your surroundings at all times. Dial 911 in case of emergency.
In the event of dangerous inclement weather such as lightning, hail, or strong winds/ rain, APF staff will direct volunteers to vacate the site immediately.
Children under 17 must be accompanied by a parent or supervising guardian to volunteer.
