Community Volunteer Event: Homedale Trail – Barton Creek Greenbelt

Howdy! Put on your shoes and grab your water bottle as you head out the door to join Austin Parks Foundation  to care for the Barton Creek Greenbelt: Homedale Access Trailhead!

Project Goals: Volunteers will work on various trail maintenance or ecological restoration needs to help maintain one our city’s most precious resources! Activities include:

  • Invasive species removal
  • Native vegetation seeding
  • Trail improvements
  • You can read more here about all our volunteer work in the Greenbelt and its impact!

Where to park: Please feel free to park along Homedale Dr. Be aware of any “no parking” signs, painted curbs or any other marked areas that signify no parking.

Where we will begin: We’ll meet at the Homedale entrance: https://maps.app.goo.gl/CK9JJP6tsoviKnYw8

Accessibility: Please note that our activity for the day will involve walking on uneven terrain, slopes and wet/muddy surfaces.

What to bring: Closed toe shoes, a FULL water bottle, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray and comfortable outdoor clothing (preferably long pants and sleeves for protection). We will provide all tools and gloves – if you have your own gardening or work gloves you are welcome to bring them.

A NOTE ON SAFETY: We encourage you to “See and Be Seen!” Be mindful of your fellow volunteers and maintain awareness of your surroundings at all times. Dial 911 in case of emergency.

In the event of dangerous inclement weather such as lightning, hail, or strong winds/ rain, APF staff will direct volunteers to vacate the site immediately.

Children under 17 must be accompanied by a parent or supervising guardian to volunteer.
