Community Park Event – Great Hills Neighborhood Park Fire Mitigation Brush Removal: Part 3!
Grab your water bottle as you head out to join the Great Hills Park community to further reduce fire risk at Great Hills Park by removing down brush leftover from the 2023 ice storm.
In May and December of last year we removed almost 6,000 pounds of brush and and we’re looking to remove the remaining brush with this workday and we need your help to make it happen! Join in supporting your neighborhood park by helping to cut and drag brush from within the park to the Fox Way trailhead where it will then be hauled away. Fires are an ever-growing threat and through your work as a volunteer there will be a reduction of fire risk to the surrounding neighborhood while drastically reducing project costs!
We’ll meet at the Fox Way trailhead and get started promptly at 9 AM. Volunteers should dress appropriately with sturdy shoes, your favorite work gloves, and long sleeves and pants to protect yourself from scratches! Coffee, snacks, and water will be provided. Please bring a reusable water bottle to reduce waste. APF will provide tools and tarps on which brush can be dragged.
Thank you so much for giving back to our parks and green spaces!
In the event of dangerous inclement weather such as lightning, hail, or strong winds/ rain, APF staff will direct volunteers to vacate the site immediately.
Requirements
Children under 17 must be accompanied by a parent or supervising guardian to volunteer.
