Open Workday: Barton Creek Greenbelt
Please join Austin Parks Foundation to give back to our treasured Barton Creek Greenbelt! APF has been working for the past four years in the Greenbelt on trail maintenance and ongoing invasive removal – and we need you to help us continue this work! We are so excited to support the ecological health, resilience, and beauty of our parks system. Project tasks and Activities include:
- Tree Care
- Native Flora and Fauna Identification
- Invasive Species Management
- Trail Maintenance
- Ecological Restoration
What to bring: Please bring plenty of drinking water, wear closed toed shoes and comfortable, long clothing for protection that you don’t mind working up a sweat in – there is poison ivy that we’ll try to avoid but long sleeves and pants are a must! APF will supply all other project materials such as tools and gloves. This project will include some physically demanding tasks but also lots of educational components and comradery in beautiful nature!
Where to meet: You can park at the Zilker Park Rock Garden parking lot but we’ll meet and get started with introductions at the Barton Springs Pool trailhead to the Greenbelt at 9 AM. Please note that access around the entryway to Barton Springs is CLOSED for renovations. There is additional parking available at the Polo Fields lot and Polo Tables Picnic Area.
Thank you so much for giving back to our parks and green spaces!
In the event of dangerous inclement weather such as lightning, hail, or strong winds/ rain, APF staff will direct volunteers to vacate the site immediately.
