Austin Parks Foundation amplifies D7
This year for Amplify Austin, our city’s 24-hour giving frenzy, we’re highlighting the breadth of our work. We’ll share stories of projects from each district throughout the month of February so you can see how we’re Amplifying a green space near you!
Today, we’re showing off how your gifts Amplify Wooten Park.
Pavilion installation at Wooten Park is amplifying community space
Austinites never waste a beautiful day, and visiting parks ranks as one of the top to-do’s on a sunny day here in Bat City. But, limited shade can make it unbearable on those 100 degree days. Visitors to Wooten Park are all too familiar with the melting feeling a Summer day in the park can bring, so APF has awarded a $70,000 community grant to build a pavilion.
The new pavilion will offer a much-needed escape from the direct sunlight. In addition, the installation of picnic tables will encourage more gatherings. Park events can help to bring people together, forming bonds and a sense of community. With park improvements like this, residents are building communities around parks in our expanding city.
