A few more photos of the Auction Oaks at Republic Square now surrounded by stone bollards with connecting chains added to half of the area.  We should be seedingall bare ground areas with grass seed shortly.

Our new stone bollards now ring the Auction Oaks portion of Republic Square!  These massive limestone blocks double as seats and will be connected with heavy chain shortly.  We’re very excited about this task being completed.  Only a few things left to do in this phase of work at Republic Square.

A number of the new stone bollards were installed today, they will surround the entire Auction Oaks area and will be connected by a heavy gauge chain. This week, we’ll have the final elements of Phase 1A of the Auction Oaks @ Republic Square project put into place – a collection of stone bollards, connected by heavy chain to outline the Auction Oaks grove.  These are 2 foot high limestone blocks, which double as handy seats.  The first one is already out at the square, we’ve included …

We received a cool photo from 1969 showing the Auction Oaks in what was the Republic Square parking lot then.  You can see that there’s precious little space around the central auction oak in the foreground. Update on the Auction Oaks at Republic Square Project as of Monday, 1/12/09.  Our contractor is installing new irrigation in the portions of the park that had berm removal – about 1/2 of the site and they are about 50% completed.  In addition, installation of the four remaining big trees has begun with four really big holes dug and awaiting …

A quick update on our Auction Oaks project – the path installation is nearly complete and we’re working to get the right big trees installed – a big red oak should be planted shortly along with another four trees shortly there after.  Then its irrigation, seeding and the stone bollards and chain enclosure.  More …
