Our Lansdscape subcontractor, Cleanscapes, has finished  the pouring of the four final piers for our 4,000 square foot deck project at Republic Square.  All told, it took three weeks of work (using very careful approaches) to dig, prepare and pour 22 footings. 17 out of the 22 footings for the deck project have now been poured, 5 to go and we hope to pour them on Thursday. Then, we start forming up the outer berms that will form the outer backbone of the deck.  It will start looking like a deck soon!

Excavation with Air Spade and shovels continues at Republic Square.  Here’s a few photos from today. This first photo shows a web of roots, but we can still put a pier in the middle that will avoid all of those roots. We’ve now poured 7 of the 11 internal piers for the deck at Republic Square and this photo shows how we’re doing it,  we are moving the pier locations to adjust for the roots that we find.  We wrap the roots in burlap to keep them moist and protected.  Once the concrete hardens (tomorrow) we’ll backfill with soil.

On Monday the first four piers were poured with 7 more in the interior area to go.  These are three feet deep with a one foot thick footer and either 12 inch or 16 inch diamter column at the center.  A picture from yesterday afternoon shows the tubes in place prior to the concrete pour and another perspective shot looking …

Picture today of the grass sod, now completely laid out.  We have received permission for a watering variance, which allows us the ability to increase watering (beyond twice a week) for establishing the grass.  We were out mulching our trees on Sunday evening when the rain showers (however brief) rolled on through.  It was nice.

The first ten or so pallets of grass sod (common bermuda) went into the park today.  More to come, but its looking good and we have the irrigation in place to water it.
