Updates on Odom School Park:

Austin Parks Foundation is proud to say that the project at Odom School Park is nearly complete! This space, that had once fallen short of its potential, is now showing the community that hard work pays off. Through dedicated groups of neighborhood volunteers, Odom School Park has transformed into a remarkable place that all can enjoy.

Odom School Park has received support from many community resources, including a city block grant for a new playscape, a grant for a shade structure from APF’s grants program, and donated musical play equipment from Austin City Limits Music Festival. The playscape and musical equipment are now complete, and the shade structure will be going up next week!

Patrick Beyer, a landscape architect for the Austin Parks and Recreation Department, informed us that the last concrete pour was finished earlier this week- “a huge milestone. I’m hoping to have the space open by the end of October.”

Odom School Park has encouraged us to continue the hard work of taking care of our parks. It has also reminded us that other parks around Austin can be impacted in the same great way. If you know of a park that needs care and improvement then there are many ways you can help. Subscribe to our e-news for the latest on Austin Parks Foundation volunteer opportunities, events and more! Consider becoming an evergreen donor, and if you would like to go one step further, adopt a park near you through our Adopt-A-Park Program. What has happened at Odom School Park can happen in parks all throughout Austin with your help!

Special thanks goes out to the volunteers and partners who have helped make this project possible!
