As folks have no doubt heard, the mud oozed up through the grass at Zilker last Saturday afternoon and evening — the result of a fair amount of rainfall all day Saturday and lots of people at the park. It was very muddy and wet out at the Festival Saturday night and Sunday. Both Festival organizer C3 Presents and the Austin Parks and Recreation Dept released a statement on Sunday that said the park will be closed until at least October 16th and that restoring the park is the top priority with both C3 Presents and the Parks working jointly. The Austin Parks Foundation is the beneficiary of the festival and our share of the proceeds for the next few years will go to paying for the work done this year, which included extensive releveling of the site as well as the installation of over 35,000 feet of pipes and 209 irrigation heads. We will posts updates here as well as on our website: www.austinparks.org as we get more information.
