In 2018, APF completed four projects made possible by a $120,000 St. David’s Foundation Active Parks Project grant, focusing on providing physical activity, recreation and social connectedness through new park amenities in Central Austin.
Our completed park improvements included a new shade structure at Martin Neighborhood Pool, a new playscape at Edward Rendon Sr. Metropolitan Park, repair and renovation of the Liz Carpenter Fountain at Butler Metropolitan Park and a new playscape at Parque Zaragoza Neighborhood Park.
Austin Parks Foundation Receives Healthiest Places Grant from St. David's Foundation
In addition to the completion of these projects, in 2018 APF also received an $800,000 Healthiest Places Grant Award from St. David’s Foundation, allowing us to revitalize parks in underserved Austin neighborhoods. Funds from this grant will help renovate and improve the following parks and facilities and all improvements from this award will be completed in 2019:
- Asian American Resource Center
- Houston Elementary School Park
- Montopolis Neighborhood Pool
- North Oaks Neighborhood Park
- Quail Creek Neighborhood Park
Revitalization funds for small-scale maintenance and beautification projects at up to 10 adopted parks located within Austin’s Eastern Crescent. We are so thankful to St. David’s Foundation for their incredible investment in our public parks and we are honored to partner with them in such a considerable way.
