Are your kids getting restless with their long days back at school? Need to release all those wiggles? We've put together a list of eight of our favorite playscapes in Austin, TX!
While there are many awesome playgrounds in our city, our ACL Music Festival Grants Program helped to make the projects below possible. Looking to make a difference in your local park? Check out our Adopt-A-Park program today! Without further ado, here's eight of our favorite playgrounds in Austin:
1. Georgian Acres Neighborhood Park
500 E Powell Ln, Austin, TX 78753
Completed in 2020, the Georgian Acres Neighborhood park offers one of the most unique and entertaining playscapes in the area. This five-acre space offers features that are suitable for all kids, from toddlers to 12 year-olds. No matter your child's age, they are guaranteed to have a great time climbing all over this playscape. This park is also known for its trails and many relaxing picnic areas!
2. North Oaks Neighborhood Park
820 Plaza Dr, Austin, TX 78753
Austin Parks Foundation worked closely with the City of Austin and the North Oaks community to improve the North Oaks Neighborhood park's playground in 2019. The new and improved playscape offers many unique play opportunities for kids ages 2-12 years old. Look how tall that tower is! Adventurous children will love to climb up to the top and take the twisty slide down!
3. Pan Am Neighborhood Park
2100 E 3rd St, Austin, TX 78702
Known for its unique playground, Pan Am Neighborhood Park is the closest playground on this list to downtown Austin. Located adjacent to the Oswaldo A.B. Cantu Recreation Center in East Austin, this park offers so many opportunities for your kid to play all day inside and out. Just looking at all those net climbers makes us want to join in on the fun!
4. Parque Zaragoza Neighborhood Park
2608 Gonzales St, Austin, TX 78702
Named after a commander of the Mexican forces, Parque Zaragoza serves as an exciting place to play, as well as an opportunity for kids to learn about Texas history and culture. Kids can climb up the wood elements and pretend they're in their very own treehouse! When replacing the playground, APF and community partners made sure to include colorful aspects in the playground that would celebrate General Zaragoza's accomplishments!
5. Hartford Triangle
1605 Ethridge Ave, Austin, TX 78703
Although it is only on a 0.6-acre piece of land, Hartford Triangle packs a lot of fun into a small space and encourages many good times. The playscape sits under a fantastic canopy of trees and shade structures that allow your kid to play all day, no matter the weather. Head to this park in Old West Austin to experience it for yourself!
6. Edward Rendon Sr. Metro Park
2101 Jesse E. Segovia St, Austin, TX 78702
The Edward Rendon Sr. Metropolitan Park was named in 2007 after an incredible community member of Austin and advocate for our city's parks! Now, it has a fresh new design with numerous slides, climbing structures and shade for the hot days. It even has the original turtle statues within the playground space, which are a community favorite.
7. Springdale Neighborhood Park
1175 Nickols Ave, Austin, TX 78721
Springdale Neighborhood Park is a recent park improvement project completed by the City of Austin and APF. We wanted to create a space that the community could enjoy, and we're thrilled with the result. This park has separate spaces for younger and older kids to enjoy their time outside, all under some much-needed shade structures. Even if you don't live close to this neighborhood, the playscape is definitely worth the trip! The photo above was taken during the construction phase, but we'll upload a photo of the finished playscape soon!
8. Brentwood Neighborhood Park
6710 Arroyo Seco, Austin, TX 78757
Brentwood Park's Adopt-A-Park team has been keeping this area stunning for all community members even before the existence of APF. Located right next to Brentwood Elementary School, this space is a destination for countless Austin kids to climb on the climbing ball and net features as well as slide down numerous slides. You have to see this playground for yourself because it is guaranteed to bring excitement!
