Longview Neighborhood Park, located in Southwest Austin, needs an adopter group
Located in south Austin, Longview Neighborhood Park boasts many features that make it loved by the community. With about 20 acres of land, Longview has a little bit of everything for everyone. First of all, the park provides a nature area with scenic trails for the community to enjoy. But if the trails aren’t what you’re looking for, the park also provides other engaging features. These features include athletic fields and courts, picnic areas, and playgrounds. Overall, Longview Neighborhood Park is a great place for people of all ages to come out and enjoy a day in the sun.
While this park is full of great features, it is still unadopted. The Adopt-A-Park program aims to bring a sense of community to all neighborhood parks. Through a partnership between Austin Parks Foundation (APF) and the Austin Parks and Recreation Department (PARD), the program helps groups within the community raise awareness for the park, and help improve and maintain it through volunteer events and grants. Adopt-A-Park groups benefits from access to APF’s tool warehouse, educational opportunities, and ACL Music Festival Grants.
If you are interested in adopting this park, please reach out to our Outreach Coordinator & Community Organizer, Cynthia Rodriguez. For more information, check out the Adopt-A-Park page, and read over the handbook linked there.
