APF Grants $250K Matching Grant to Norwood Estate
AUSTIN, TX (December 19, 2018) – Austin Parks Foundation (APF) is excited and proud to announce it has awarded a $250,000 matching grant to the Norwood Park Foundation (NPF) for the restoration and repurposing of the historic 1920s Norwood House.
“At APF we’re dedicated to partnering with our community to improve our treasured public green spaces,” said Colin Wallis, CEO of Austin Parks Foundation. “Norwood House and the surrounding parkland is truly a natural and cultural treasure for Austin. The restoration of this public space will be such an enriching gift to our community, and a valuable asset that everyone will be able to enjoy. We are thrilled to be able to support this project. We hope Austinites will be as enthusiastic as we are for the future of this historic estate and that the necessary funds to restore it will be quickly raised so construction can begin.”

Parks Could Receive $149M in Bond Funding through November Ballot
At their June 28th meeting, City Council voted to move forward and put multiple bond propositions on the ballot in November! Read on for the details, and be sure to check out the video re-cap below.
Council approved a resolution directing the City Manager to come back with ballot language which they’ll look over in August. During their discussion, Council changed several amounts to the City Manager’s proposals. These were based on his suggested changes to the Bond Election Advisory Task Forces’ work. We are likely to see 7 propositions in November, totaling $925 million dollars.

Project Playback: Norwood House
In December of 2016, Norwood Park Foundation received a grant from Austin Parks Foundation to aid in the restoration project on Norwood House. This historic Austin home has been around for almost 100 years, but for many of those it sat unused. Because of this, the structure is in need of some help in order to bring it back to its former glory.
