It's My Park! Day
, Press Release

Austin Parks Foundation announced that volunteer registration is now open for the nonprofit’s annual city-wide volunteer event, It’s My Park Day (IMPD) presented by Room & Board. The event will take place Saturday, March 5th and welcomes Austinites to come together to help clean and improve their parks.

For the first time since Spring 2020, It’s My Park Day will be 100% in person. The event, a favorite for locals, brings together thousands of Austinites to help improve and transform more than 90 different parks, trails and greenbelts throughout the city by way of mulching, planting, and park clean ups, as well as some specialty projects. Such projects this year include the Boggy Creek Greenbelt, Dick Nichols District Park, Perry Neighborhood Park and Zilker Park Disc Golf.

“We have a lot of exciting things happening at Austin Parks Foundation this year including the opening of the Zilker Eagle, celebrating our 30th anniversary, and the return of a fully in-person It’s My Park Day - which is at the top of the list. There’s nothing quite like seeing thousands of volunteers across the city out on a Saturday morning working together to make a direct impact on these critical community gathering spaces. This event has become a part of the fabric of our city and we’re grateful to each community member that registers as well as to our giveback partners that have joined us in toasting our volunteers this year.”

Register for a Park Project Today!

Community members are encouraged to register now to volunteer for specific park improvement projects happening across Austin on March 5th. Every pre-registered volunteer gets a free t-shirt, and those unable to attend can still receive an IMPD t-shirt by making a $30 donation in honor of APF’s 30th anniversary taking place this year. For more information and to register for a volunteer project, check out our It's My Park Day webpage.

This year, APF is toasting volunteers by partnering with local coffee shops and breweries to offer free or discounted brews after their shift. Oskar Blues, Central Machine Works, Revival Coffee, Cosmic Coffee and all Houndstooth Coffee locations are among the growing list of partners. Check out all of our IMPD giveback partners here!

Celebrating 30 Years of People + Parks

It’s My Park Day’s presenting sponsor, home furnishings retailer Room & Board has opened its first Austin store at Domain Northside. To celebrate its entry into the Austin market, and to celebrate APF's 30th anniversary, Room & Board has donated $30,000 to support APF's work to improve local parks and green spaces.

It’s My Park Day was established in 2003 and takes place twice a year on the first Saturday of March and November. The event results in an average of $650,000 in volunteer labor each year, saving Austin’s under-funded Parks & Recreation Department time and money.
